Our Wine
The endearing quirks of a growing season explain why the varietal blend of our “Syrah” varies from year to year. Syrah indeed is what we’re trying to showcase, with a supporting cast of Grenache, Mourvedre and, until just recently, Viognier. (The poor Viognier: we let it down, and it us.) I have strong opinions as to how Syrah should taste, and these will be ratified or nullified by the vineyards and the elements, who are happy to overrule a mere proprietor. To the degree that they permit, we strive to produce a food-friendly wine of character, depth, complexity, and ageability, recognizable as Syrah the instant you sniff it. We are extremely judicious in the application of new oak.
