2016 Syrah

Rounding out nicely after half a decade, the 2016 is probably our most “Old World” offering to date, with a certain array of earth and game shading the basic fruit foundation with interesting nuances as it ages. The full, ripe palate of herbal currants, dry plum and cherries is complimented by notes of anisette, eucalyptus and green peppercorns. Frankly assertive upon opening, this wine finds harmony — and evinces its great potential — with a good 90 minutes of airing. It is the last Star Crest Syrah to include Viognier in the blend.
